21 Years of Seriun

Celebrating how far we’ve come – and where we’re headed next

In its 21 years, Seriun has grown and evolved exponentially. Now boasting a 47 strong team, our approach has remained consistent: invest in our people, improve our processes, and design services that truly support the businesses we work with. From the launch of our “Cyber as a Service” offering to the development of bespoke AI solutions, our journey has always been shaped by real-world challenges and a long-term vision.

Ownership Changes

At the end of 2024, Seriun entered an exciting new chapter following a management buyout. Co-founder Justin Sherwood stepped away to pursue new ventures. Mark joined existing Director Richard Lee as co-owner of the business. The changes have spurred on the further development of our cyber services and introduction of our AI services. Exciting times as we continue driving Seriun forward as we enter this next phase of growth.

Growth Across the Business

Since relocating from Burnley to a larger office in Barrowford in 2019, our team has more than doubled in size – and we’re now preparing for another move to accommodate further growth.

Our Service Desk currently includes more than 20 highly skilled engineers, collectively resolving over 100 support tickets each day, with an impressive 92% same-day fix rate. Every part of the business – from cyber and IT to sales and marketing – has grown and evolved, always with a clear focus on delivering excellent customer service.

Our commitment to quality and service has been recognised with awards from both the BIBAs and Red Rose Awards, which are testament to our highly skilled team of experts and the trust we’ve built with our customers.

Today, we support over 200 businesses across the region and internationally. We pride ourselves on building real relationships – a new customer doesn’t just get added to a system, we take the time to understand their business, build a relationship, and tailor our support to their specific needs. Our valued customers also benefit from a range of added extras, including free monthly Microsoft training webinars, exclusive in-person events, and a dedicated Customer Experience Manager to ensure they’re getting the most from their partnership with us.

The Cyber Security Evolution

Our cyber journey began in 2020, when Wayne Fulton took the lead in establishing what has now become a well-respected and mature cyber security department. What started as a focused role quickly grew into a vital part of our business as demand for Cyber Essentials and Cyber Essentials Plus certifications escalated.

As threats continued to evolve, so did our services – introducing penetration testing, phishing simulations, user awareness training, and more. By 2022, we formalised our full offering with the launch of Cyber as a Service (CaaS): a fully managed, proactive cyber security package tailored to meet the needs of today’s businesses and insurance requirements.

Now in its fifth iteration, our cyber offering continues to adapt in response to the ever-changing threat landscape. We constantly refine and expand our services to ensure our clients stay protected and compliant – because when it comes to cyber security, standing still isn’t an option.

Today, our cyber team has doubled in size and supports over 80 businesses, with more than 60 of them Cyber Essentials certified. We also run regular live events and interactive demonstrations, helping organisations better understand risks, stay ahead of threats, and build stronger defences.

Seriun Intelligence: Our AI Offering

Recognising the growing importance of artificial intelligence, we launched a dedicated AI department earlier this year. Our aim is to help customers adopt AI in a secure, practical, and strategic way.

We welcomed Shaun Barnes as our AI Solutions Consultant to lead this area, focusing on tailored solutions that deliver measurable value. Rather than offering generic tools, Seriun Intelligence is being developed with the same care and customer focus that underpins all our services. We are also looking for a number of other key personnel to further strengthen our offering.

Brand Refresh

As part of our evolution, we’re currently updating our visual identity to better reflect who we are today and where we’re going. This is the fourth major brand refresh in our 21-year history. Alongside this, we’re also launching a new website later this year to improve how we showcase our services and make it easier for customers to engage with us.
