Overview
Achieving Cyber Essentials Accreditations are crucial in the medical industry. Being cyber secure is crucial now more than ever. Cyber-crime is growing in volume and sophistication and without robust defences in place, any business is open to attack. Gaining Cyber Essentials accreditations is a highly recommended step towards guarding a business and its assets against cyber threats while demonstrating commitment to cyber security.
The Problem
The American Medical Center (AMC) have thousands of clients and an abundance of personal and sensitive data that needs constant high-level protection. Although they had good IT security in place, they needed to be able to prove their commitment to cyber security to increase their commerciality and win Government contracts and also attract new investment.

They offer a wide range of medical and surgical services. Their mission is to provide the highest quality care to patients, in an ecologically friendly environment, that is safe, technologically advanced and staffed with competent professionals. Ultimately to be a Centre of Excellence for Health Care.
How we made it all come together
The Solution
Seriun successfully delivered the Cyber Essentials and Cyber Essentials Plus programmes to AMC, to verify that they have all the necessary cyber security measures in place to help protect against cyber crime. Seriun’s Cyber Security champion Wayne Fulton guided AMC through the Cyber Essentials toolkit to generate an action plan of required measures. They worked through this list tightening IT security across their entire IT infrastructure. Wayne then assessed them to make sure all measures were compliant.
As part of the advanced Cyber Essentials Plus certification, Wayne conducted rigorous technical verification to ensure all criteria was met to pass the Cyber Essentials standards. The process involved performing seven thorough tests to check the IT security across AMC’s business IT infrastructure. This included: phishing and email system testing, a malicious file test, antivirus check, MFA test, website and firewall vulnerability tests. AMC followed instruction and any remediation advice they were given. As a result they passed the Cyber Essentials assessments and were awarded the double certification.
